BlueBird Security Alert

An email was recently distributed to physicians with the following subject lines: “Debit Information” or “Debit Invoice”. The email will seem that it was sent from The College of Family Physicians of Canada. The email may include the graphic below.



PLEASE DO NOT OPEN OR CLICK ON ANY LINKS IN THIS EMAIL. THIS IS A MALICIOUS EMAIL THAT CAN LAUNCH A POTENTIALLY HARMFUL COMPUTER VIRUS INTO YOUR NETWORK!


What will happen if I you have already opened this email

Please be aware the malware targeted only applies to Windows computers, and you are not at risk if you opened the link on a Mac computer or a mobile phone.


If you have opened or clicked on links in this email from a windows machine please contact us immediately at support@bluebirdinc.com so we can investigate any possible malware infections of your network devices.


If you opened the link in question on one of your home computers not supported by BlueBird, we suggest running an antivirus scan immediately. Please contact BlueBird for assistance if required.


What BlueBird is doing to protect you

Since we became aware of this issue we have been running additional antivirus scans on your BlueBird managed devices, in addition to the regularly scheduled scans.


While our Antivirus software caught and blocked several instances of this malware last week, we have seen no new detections in the last 72 hours which indicates that the threat has been contained.

We would like to encourage you to share this notification with your staff and colleagues to assist in limiting the spread of this computer virus any further.
